Moth Night

We held the second of our fascinating moth nights this week. Our chief moth expert David came in the night before and set up three traps around the garden in Alison’s garden, thee Foliage Border and just outside the Orchid House.

Given the time of year, the moths found were not in such numbers as the previous night in July but there were some delightfully exotic specimens such as Merveille du Jour, Light Emerald (which was just that, I had no idea moths had such beautiful delicate colours in Britain) and Large Yellow Underwing, which again is exactly as described and very yellow.

This is the last moth night for this year but we look forward to welcoming David back for further moth nights in 2023.
