About us

Helmsley Walled Garden is an independent charity managed by a small staff team who rely very much on the volunteers who work with us.  Volunteers are involved in the maintenance of the garden, helping in the shop and kiosk and the organisation itself is run by a group of volunteer trustees all with a range of valuable skills.

Our volunteers come from all over Ryedale and North Yorkshire – some have been with us for many years and have seen the garden change over time.  We have long standing links with Wellburn School who volunteer regularly at the garden and the North York Moors Explorers Club visit every summer to spend a family day harvesting or planting bulbs.

The garden is very much part of the local community here at Helmsley and looks to extend and develop its community links whilst welcoming visitors from the whole of the United Kingdom and beyond.
