Glorious Garden Picnic Evening

Join us for a glorious summer evening picnic in the tranquil surroundings of the garden, accompanied by the captivating harmonies of the Yorkshire Voices Choir, as we raise vital funds needed to continue nurturing both our landscape and our community.

Yorkshire Voices is a large choir made up of volunteers who come together from across the county to perform songs from all genres. Having recently performed at Newby Hall, Fountains Abbey, the Himalayan Gardens, and the beautiful Valley Gardens in Harrogate. They are extremely talented and you can’t help but sing along!

The performance and picnic will take place on the event lawn, where you will enjoy the imposing backdrop of Helmsley Castle and the luxury of exploring the garden after hours.

Once you have set up your picnic, you’re invited to come along to the Orchid House to collect a complimentary Helmsley Walled Garden apple juice.

We are hosting this picnic evening as part of our Growing a Bright Future Appeal, as we seek support to create a space to grow within a modern, multipurpose glasshouse designed to inspire community pride, uplift our team of staff and volunteers and provide a better welcome for our visitors.

At present, the only space our staff team and volunteers have, away from areas that are accessible to the public, is a glasshouse which is sadly now beyond repair. This space, which houses our kitchen, toilet facilities, along with volunteer lockers and seating, has inefficient heating, and leaks very badly in adverse weather conditions. Therefore, we need to raise money to replace this building and create a warm and safe space for our volunteers to spend their break times, as well as an area to socialise before and after volunteering sessions. It will also enable us to offer a more secluded space to run workshops and educational volunteer sessions which require a calm and quiet space.

With your help, we can create a garden that is not only beautiful but also resilient, inclusive, and sustainable. These new facilities will enable our staff and volunteers to work at their best, welcome more visitors, expand community learning, and safeguard the garden for future generations.

Tickets are priced at £20.00 per person. Under 16’s have free entry with a paying adult.

Gates will open at 5.30pm, with the choir performing from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, and gates will close at 8.30pm. The performance will last 45 minutes, and will then open up to audience participation for a good old sing-along! (optional!).

Please bring along your own picnic, picnic blankets and/or chairs. Although the garden is dog friendly during the day, we regret that we are unable to accommodate dogs at this event.
