Willow Weaving Workshop – Decorative Flower 3 SPACES REMAINING

Join our decorative flower workshop for a morning of willow weaving in the beautiful Orchid House within Helmsley Walled Garden. At the end of the workshop, you will have a beautiful willow flower to take home to display indoors or outdoors. There is no size limit, so you can go as large as the willow will allow!

This workshop will run on Saturday the 30th of May, from 10.30 am to 1pm. All materials are provided. Our workshops are suitable for all, from complete beginners to the more experienced.

Willow weaving has been practiced for thousands of years, with the earliest records in the British Isles dating back to the Mesolithic period. Historically, willow was valued not just for its flexibility and strength but also for its aesthetic qualities. Artisans learned to identify different types of willow and their unique properties, allowing them to create a variety of textures and patterns in their woven pieces.

Janice Burley from Down 2 Earth will be leading each session, bringing her expertise as a garden designer and willow weaver. She is committed to sharing her knowledge and skills to help others explore their creativity while working with natural materials. Join Janice for practical guidance and support as you develop your own projects.

The Vinehouse Cafe will be open from 10 am. You are also welcome to bring your own refreshments. Workshop admission entitles you to enjoy the garden for duration of your workshop date (gates close at 5pm).

Spaces are limited so book your place now.

There is a maximum of 8 bookings to allow everyone the space and attention they need. A minimum of 6 bookings in total are required in order for the workshop to go ahead.
