Clare Carlile painting workshop

Immerse yourself in the beautiful surroundings of the Helmsley Walled Garden and create artworks inspired by nature

This course is designed for those that are totally new to painting, but also those that have some past experience and might be looking to rekindle a love of the medium. We will look at the fundamental elements of painting which can then provide you with the basic building blocks to develop further; colour, hues, colour temperature and colour theory will all be explored. Exploring these various elements will provide an inspiring artistic challenge for all. Subject matter will be taken directly from the walled garden, which at this time of year is bursting with form, shape and colour.

In terms of medium, we will look at using watercolour paint, pastel and crayon. This course is the second of two courses in creativity. The other course focuses on drawing, details of which can be found here. They can either be booked together or separately. The course is designed for both beginners and those with experience wanting to refresh.
Materials: watercolour paint, pastel, crayon, paper – these will be made available, but please feel free to bring your own
